Mediation Training

Yearly, we conduct trainings for community members who are interested in becoming volunteer mediators for our programs. This two-day hands-on training includes the basic tenets of mediation, personal skills for dealing with conflict, and hands-on mediation practice.

2-day Mediation Training, February 28 & March 1, 2014

Location: Alamosa Police Department Training Center (502 2nd Street, Alamosa)

Core Training: The Center for Restorative Programs will offer a mediation training on February 28, 1 pm – 8 pm & March 1, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The Core Training, which covers the basic tenets of mediation and related communication skills, is open to anyone age 16 or older.  Bilingual mediators are especially needed. Space is limited and registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Trainees must attend both days.

Volunteer Options: Trainees who complete the Core Training are invited to consider volunteering with our program, which requires further orientation and training opportunities.

Cost of Registration for Core Training: $100. Fee includes training manual and 3 light meals. Discounted registration is available for full-time volunteers (MVS, La Puente, etc.) and full-time students. Ask how you can receive up to the full cost of registration back by volunteering for our program.
